Auto Injury

After an auto accident, many people require auto injury treatments of one type or another. At Heartland Chiropractic Associates we have a dedicated team of chiropractors at both of our offices in Sioux City, IA, and Dakota Dunes, SD.

Chiropractic Manipulation

Chiropractic manipulation is a way to adjust the vertebrae in your spine. When the vertebrae are misaligned, the impulses from the brain can't get through. This causes problems all over the body. At our practice, we offer many chiropractic manipulation techniques including:

  • Diversified
  • Gonstead
  • Thompson
  • Palmer Package
  • Activator
  • Graston Technique

Electric Muscle Stimulation

Electrical muscle stimulation is the use of electrical impulses to cause muscles to contract, which helps your muscles become stronger. The electrodes are placed on the muscles that need to be relaxed and a low level of electricity is applied. The stimulation causes the muscles to contract and when they have become tired they relax.

Neuromuscular Reeducation

Neuromuscular reduction is a series of exercises that help retrain the brain, the spine, and the soft tissue to work together again. The object is to get you back to being able to do activities that you were able to perform before you were injured. It works on voluntary and reflex movements.

Therapeutic exercises

Your chiropractor will give you a series of exercises to do at home to help improve your range of motion and improve your flexibility after you have suffered an injury.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy works hand in hand with spinal adjustment to improve the efficiency of the treatments. Your chiropractor will use their hands, elbows, knees, or an instrument to massage the soft tissue to bring relief from stress and tension.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a way to stretch the spine, providing more space between the vertebrae. Spinal decompression uses a computer-generated program to provide the stretch that allows the discs to go back into their correct place. The stretching provides suction that gently moves the bulging disc material.

Ultrasound therapy

Ultrasound therapy uses sound waves to vibrate and apply heat to the injured soft tissue and joints. The result is a reduction in inflammation as well as faster healing that occurs at the cellular level. Many different types of pain respond well to this treatment.
